Compassionate Support for Our Local Heroes
Broward First Responder Support Dogs is dedicated to providing trained therapy dogs to support the mental wellbeing of our first responders. Through strategic fundraising and rigorous certification processes, our mission is to ensure that those who protect our community have access to the healing companionship they deserve, helping them build resilience and navigate the challenges of their service. All handlers are also trained in Peer Support and Critical Incident Management. This creates a duo that can provide comforting services during a stressful situation.
The Path to Certification
Evaluation & Selection
We begin with a rigorous temperament assessment. Only dogs demonstrating exceptional calm, empathy, and resilience are selected for team, ensuring they can handle high-pressure environments.
Foundational Training
Dogs undergo intensive training specifically designed for fire stations, dispatch centers, and police departments. This phase focuses on desensitization to sirens, heavy gear, and rapid environmental shifts.
National Certification
The final step is peer-reviewed certification through recognized national therapy dog organizations. This ensures our teams meet the highest professional standards for Broward's first responder community.

Expanded Services
These K9s have the primary goal to make people smile. The team is very active in First Responder care and therapy along with sponsored events. However, the team does visit hospitals, Nursing facilities, schools and many other locations where a dog can make a difference. Contact us for availability of a team member
